The Disability Discrimination Act is legislation which goals to stop discrimination against disabled people. The Disability Discrimination Act applies to all employers and everyone who provides a service to the public, except the Armed Forces. It is a law designed to end discrimination against impeded people. It also meets the needs of small to medium sized businesses because it is flexible enough to take account of your business’s individual circumstances. People with mutable conditions, such as multiple sclerosis or sickle cell anaemia, are involved under the definition of disability in the DDA. Their needs may change over time.

A student only has to announce a disability, there is no legal requirement for them to prove it. The Disability Discrimination Act 2005 builds on and extends earlier disability discrimination legislation, principally the Disability Discrimination Act 1995. The Act now requires public bodies to elevate equality of opportunity for disabled people. It also allows the government to set minimum standards so that disabled people can use public transport easily. The DDA 1995 departs from the fundamental principles of older UK discrimination law (sex discrimination act 1975 and the race relations act 1976).

Number Plates History

Posted in Health by toni on the April 9th, 2008

With a need to give vehicles and identifying mark or number, to enable easy identification, the government created the first car registration scheme. The Netherlands were the first to introduce a national number plate, first called a “driving permit” in 1898. The first number plates were simply a number, beginning with one. In the US, it is the state that issues number plates, beginning in New York. This began in 1901. In the beginning, residents were required to make their own plates until Massachusetts and West Virginia began to issue plates, beginning in 1903. The current style of vehicle number plates still gives all the information, but the format has been changed so that plates now follow this form: KG51 FCV.

Every council was assigned with specific letter codes to issue registration plates to vehicles in their local area. Accompanied by numbers, these made unique and individual identifiers. By 1930 the system had been exhausted and a third letter was added at the front of the number plate system. Due to the size of number plates at the time, this additional letter meant that only three numbers were displayed on the number plate. A sustainable registration system was needed and in 1963 the first suffix reg was issued. These personalised number plates displayed three letters followed by up to three digits and a year identifier e.g. ABC 123A.

Contact Lens For Astigmatism

Posted in Health by toni on the February 2nd, 2008

Astigmatism is one of a group of eye conditions known as refractive errors. Astigmatism occurs when the cornea has distinct degrees of curvature in distinct meridians. Astigmatism frequently occurs with myopia and foresight, conditions too resulting from refractive errors. Eyes with astigmatism may require a particular link lens that can pay for the somewhat improper form of the cornea or the lucid lens. Toric link lenses are a particular character of tender link lens, used for Astigmatism. A tender toric link lens is merely a toric link lens that is made from a water-based gel textile that provides good solace and better imagination when placed on the heart. A toric link lens can rectify either myopia or foresight at the same moment it corrects astigmatism. Because they have a more advanced pattern, toric tender lenses are more costly to invent and cost much than routine tender lenses. Regular soft contacts len have the same curve in all meridians and cannot correct astigmatism.

People with astigmatism will normally get blurred imagination, and in some cases may too have headaches, eyestrain, or tiredness. Toric lenses go in a kind of colors. However, the selection of colors may be more modest than with routine contact lenses. Because toric tender link lenses are more hard to have and go much moment to equip, link lens proper fees lean to be high than for unmarried imagination link lenses. The lenses themselves too lean to cost much than unmarried imagination lenses. In cases of conservative to serious astigmatism, a basic strict gasoline permeable link lens may be uneasy or volatile on the heart because the form of the cornea is then improper that the link lens doesn’t centre decently on the heart and moves overly more during blinks. In these cases, a toric strict gasoline permeable link lens may be used. This character of lens needs much maintenance in fitting than fundamental strict link lenses as the slant and ability of the astigmatic correction needs to be matched to that of the eye.

What is Addiction ?

Posted in Health by toni on the January 31st, 2008

People who are addicted cannot control their need for alcohol or other drugs, even in the face of negative health, social or legal consequences. This lack of control is the result of alcohol- or drug-induced changes in the brain. Those changes, in turn, cause behavior changes. Addiction was a term used to describe a devotion, attachment, dedication, inclination, etc. The term is often reserved for drug addictions but it is sometimes applied to other compulsions, such as problem gambling, and compulsive overeating. Factors that have been suggested as causes of addiction include genetic, biological/pharmacological and social factors. Some people who are not prone bio-genetically to alcoholism or other addictions will acquire the condition. Therefore, social and psychological forces will remain very important in determining who does and who does not develop addictive behaviors.

Most addictions take time to develop and almost no one deliberately sets out to become addicted to a substance. Giving up an addiction or dependency can be very difficult, but it can be done. Some people need more help than others, but if you are serious about giving up, there is addiction treatment available and you can do it.  A pain pill addiction produces a very strong physical dependency, and people dependent on pain pills will begin to suffer the initial symptoms of painful withdrawal within a few hours of the last dose wearing off.
